OCTOBER Avance Heart Auction call for artists Artists are being sought for the 8th annual “Toma Mi Corazon/Have a Heart” auction though Jan. 12. Wooden hearts may be picked up beginning Oct. 9 at Avance, 616 Virginia during regular office hours. El Paso Scene will sponsor a “Heart of El Paso” award for the heart that best represents the Spirit of El Paso, and winning entries will be featured on the February 2009 cover. The 8th annual “Toma Mi Corazon/Have a Heart” auction is Saturday, Feb. 7 at Creative Kids Olo Gallery to benefit AVANCE El Paso Chapter. “La Llorona” by Santiago González Aragón HusH Gallery — 504 N. Stanton. The gallery/coffee shop is a “Thought Space” providing and platform for emerging artists. The gallery also offers special performances, speakers and more on a regular basis.
